This printable is designed for grades 4-9, middle school and junior high. It can also be used for high school students, or even for college! There are two sheets: one with the parts of speech, and another with the parts of a sentence. Laminate them or stick them in sheet protectors to put them in a binder.
It was created it in middle school by Samantha from Learn in Color to help her memorize the different parts of speech and the different parts of a sentence. It covers:

Nouns
Verbs
Pronouns
Articles
Adjectives
Adverbs
Interjections
Conjunctions
Prepositions
Object of Prepositions
Direct and indirect objects
Infinitive phrases

Learning the parts of speech is crucial for solid grammar skills. It helps with clarity in speech and sentences. Plus, having a solid foundation in English makes learning a foreign language easier.
Samantha says, “I choose to create a sheet with the parts of sentences to go with my diagramming cheat sheet. At first, diagramming is hard and can seem pointless. In all honestly, once you learn how to do it, you will become SO much more familiar with the English language and improve your writing skills. Knowing how to diagram can help eliminate common grammatical errors and once mastered, can take away A LOT of grammar headaches. I would HIGHLY recommend learning diagramming!

English High School Curriculum

I have been looking for a decent English curriculum for Troy (11 years old) for our home school daily schedule. I think I have just found what I’ve been looking for!!!

I came across this website called Easy Peasy All In One Homeschool which is a Christian-based site offering a FREE curriculum for homeschoolers in ALL subjects!! WOW!

The one I’m mostly interested in is their extension site called Easy Peasy All In One High School English-8 for Troy’s English lessons! It looks achievable and simple to follow too. Each day is set out for you. Just follow the instructions for each English subject for each day and click on the links provided. Easy Peasy.

If you are looking for a good solid and free curriculum, I can honestly recommend that you check out their site. Even if you don’t want to use the full curriculum, you can choose subjects that pertain to you from the drop down menu on the right hand side of their pages.

Happy Homeschooling!

This weekend I pinned some more English resources to my Pinterest boards. Usually I pin several at a time, without linking to the site immediately. I leave that for another time when I have a bit more time. Anyway, this morning I was searching my pins for some decent worksheets for Troy for this week’s English lessons. As usual, I came across a few silly ones that wouldn’t really be much help, and those ones I must still remove from my boards! BUT, guess what? I found a super pin with, what I think will be a whole year’s worth of English lessons!! And for grades 6 through 12!!! AND…they are free!
